10/5/2008-Expect the non-expected
So after I finished up last night's entry I put on my pjs, brushed my teeth, and was just about to bed down for the night in a pile of old newspapers that the Fair One left out for me. Just before my sweet head hit the travel section though the phone rang, there was a boat headed into the yard that decided they needed an assist.
The tugboat company is all about service of course, and part of service means being on call basically your entire life. Thus, I found myself running down the hill to the yard in the middle of the night, to crew up the 8 and head out into the lake. It was all very exciting. The jogging was exciting anyway, the job itself was kind of anticlimactic. That's the definition of a goof tugboat job though, nice and predictable.
So once that was done I trudged back up the hill and curled up in my pile of papers for the night. It's less comfortable than you might imagine, but it's mine. At least until the recycling truck comes, then I've got to start all over.
Anyhow, I spent the day today on a variety of chores. It was a rather busy day, which was kind of unfortunate since I'd been planning on spending the day on the couch with the cat. The cat and I like to watch football and lay on the couch, but we almost never seem to get a chance to do so. Oh well. So our photo today is one I took last weekend from high atop the water tower in Volunteer Park. There's an awfully nice view from up there, as you can see. Alright then, I guess I'll call it a night. See you later on, Brian
